David Fisher, Jr., OD, FAAO
Dr. Fisher was born in Jennings, Louisiana to David and Shirley Fisher, owners and operators of Fisher Early Childhood Development Center here in Lafayette. At six months of age his family moved to Lafayette and he has been here since. Dr. Fisher graduated from Acadiana High School and received his Bachelor of Science from U.S.L. (now UL Lafayette). He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry, a private college in Memphis, TN. Upon graduating in May 1990 he was accepted into a residency/fellowship program in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. The residency took him through July 1991. He then returned to Lafayette and entered into private practice. Dr. Fisher is a member of the Optometric Association of Louisiana, and is a past president of the association. He was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 1996. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and also serves on the board of the Southwest Council of Optometrists.
His community services are centered around helping the troubled youth of our area. He works closely with the Children’s Shelter, Acadiana Shelter for Girls and Maison de Mere through his association with Acadiana Youth, Inc.
In Dr. Fisher’s spare time he enjoys hunting and fishing with his sons. Dr. Fisher is also active in two Mardi Gras Krewes and served as royalty in 2007 in the Krewe of Bonaparte. The Fisher family is also very active in St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He married the former Nanette Sonnier in 1991 and they have triplet boys: Mason, Evan and Reed, born September 1997.
Lou Ann Jacques – Front Desk Receptionist
Lou Anne is from Youngsville and now lives in Scott. She has been with Dr. Fisher for 25 years. She has worked in the field of optometry for 55 years. She enjoys gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her job description is greeting patients and collecting patient payments at check out. She is also trained to help frame style glasses and aids in adjustments.
Susan G. Melancon – Office Manager
Susan is from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. She has worked for 26 years in the field of optometry and has worked with Dr. Fisher for 24 years. She handles all of our eyewear needs from ordering and stocking frames of all designs to aiding in frame selection and dispensing for our patients. She is a certified Para-Optometric Technician and has been since 1996. She is certified to obtain patient medical histories and perform preliminary tests for all ocular exams.
Angel R. Villalobos – Certified Optician
Angel is a resident of Lafayette. He was certified in 1990 and has been working opticianry for over 30 yrs. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, camping, saltwater fishing, soccer, cooking and spending time with his wife and children.
Chanita Mc Galliard – Contact Lens Technician
Chanita is from Shreveport, Louisiana and now lives in Lafayette. She has worked in the field for eighteen years and has been with Dr. Fisher for 15 years. She specializes in the research and fit of contact lenses for our office. She is a trained technician to assist with the preliminary testing and medical history for complete ocular examinations.
Kirstan Hutchison – Clinic Coordinator
Kirstan is from Franklin, Louisiana. She has worked in the field of optometry for 4 years. She performs all preliminary testing before examination. She also performs any diagnostic testing ordered by staff doctors. She is a Certified Paraoptometric.
Kristen Borel – Front Desk Receptionist
Kris is from Lake Charles, LA and currently resides in Youngsville, LA. Her duties include greeting patients, answering the phones, checking in patients, and assisting with adjusting and dispensing of eyewear.
Courtney Courville – Paraoptometric
Courtney is from New Iberia, Louisiana. she has worked in the Opthalmology/Optometry field for 6 years. She is a trained technician able to perform preliminary and diagnostic testing, as well as educating patients on ocular diseases and diagnosis.
